IC 443, located near the star Eta Geminorum (Propus), is the remanant of a supernova explosion that occurred about 30,000 years ago. The supernova explosion also formed a neutron star. The open cluster M35 can be seen at bottom left of the image. The image shown here is a composite of three images taken with different filters : red = Hydrogen-alpha 656.3nm, green = Ionised oxygen 500.7nm, blue = Ionised sulphur 673.4nm
