Network Nebula, Filamentary Nebula, Cygnus SNR, Cygnus Loop
The Veil Nebula is a supernova remnant so vast its different parts have been assigned different NGC numbers. The result of a supernova explosion over 5,000 years ago, the ejected material is still travelling through space at high speed. NGC 6992, the Network Nebula, is located at the top left of the image. At far right, adjacent to the bright star 52 Cygni, is NGC 6960, the Filamentary Nebula.
