High resolution satellite images
High resolution satellite images are available worldwide from Landsat at a pixel size of 30 metres or 15 metres. Landsat provides systematic coverage allowing the construction of large-area geocoded satellite mosaics suitable for use as texture maps in 3D graphics and for GIS use. Other types of image, including astronaut photography from the Space Shuttle and International Space Station, may show more detail, but are subject to archive availability.

The image samples shown here are full-resolution extracts from cloud-free or nearly cloud-free images. Full images are typically several thousand pixels across. Generally speaking, a sensor showing more detail (with a smaller pixel size) will cover a smaller area of ground in each image.
