Emirates globe

One of the largest photographic representations of the Earth ever created was unveiled by the Emirates airline and travel group at Dubai's annual tourism trade show in 2007. The Emirates exhibition stand featured a giant walk-in "globe" measuring 9.5 metres high, with a circumference of 65 metres. Planetary Visions provided the detailed satellite image for the installation - a cloud-free mosaic made from thousands of individual satellite observations. The image was printed out onto 288 perspex panels that were assembled to form a spheroidal world map.

The EMIRATES GLOBE made its debut appearance at the Arabian Travel Market, held at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, 1-4 May 2007. The globe and Emirates exhibition stand were designed by The Pulse Group, using Planetary Visions' Satellite Imagemap of the World.
